I have just purchased AOL's Broadband service for 12 months. I live in the UK and the connection is ADSL.
Primarily I need internet access on two PC's. Both computers are networked using a crossover cable and standard PCI network cards respectively. Both run on XP Pro.

I have decided to upgrade to AOL broadband. I live in the UK and what i can gather AOL uses an ADSL connection.
The main thing i can't understand is this: What is the difference between ADSL and DSL (if any) and can i use a linksis DSL router on this type of connection for internet sharing...

just preformed a system restore and hey presto it now works fine!
not the ideal way to fix it i know but hey it worked!

It won't let me into computer management either, a message exactly the same appears only the file it cannot open is now compmgmt.msc.
task manager still works normally.
just tried replacing the file with one of my brothers computer, still no luck though
Got a bit of a prob trying to get device manager in Xp to open. It keeps saying either
it does not exist
is not an MMC console
was created by a later version of MMC
or
that i do not have sufficient access rights to the file
Any ideas?

Over the last 3 months i have had to format my hard drive 5 times and rid XP and all of its problems from my 80Gb IBM Deskstar HD. Eventually XP will not run any programs on my PC and cause protection errors all over the place and random restarting when using programs. Also tried repairing XP...
Every time I boot my machine either a blue screen appears displaying a stop error (windows protection error) or it runs scandisk. No faults are found on the scan and the machine will boot ok when it has completed.
Also cannot get rid of the white SOLTEK screen on initial startup which diplays...
