you need to create the "A" record & MX record with whoever is hosting your authoritative DNS. In this case it sounds like NetSol is doing that. Point being, this is how the rest of the world finds you - a DNS lookup. Which DNS is the question. You can host this if you want, but it is better...
I think JCMD will do this if you have it.
If you need it, it's here:
http://www.novellshareware.com/server-management.shtml
just scroll down to it. It basically gives you a DOS shell at the command prompt. You should be able to run it from the floppy..
type VOL to see what volumes are...
nothing in GW I am aware of to handle this.
For the Address book, if you can export it as a CSV, then manipulate it to match the NAB format that GroupWise uses (make an entry, then export it to see what you need) you could import the NAB's for your users.
Not sure about calendar.
Emails will...
use a URI. It's easy to do this. A similar rule was posted on CP's site in April of '04 btw..
under services, create a new URI
on the GENERAL tab, name the thing.. BAD_HTTP
on the MATCH tab, find the PATH dialog and enter
{*.emf, *.wmf}
check off the http check box too.
& that's it.
Now...
Run checkpoint on SPLAT. Don't run it on windows unless you are forced to by someone in mgt who is clueless.. I can hear the person now.. "we are a windows shop!"
SPLAT is free, runs great, and is stable as can be (we have run it here for years). I have run live fire tests on our firewall...
Is there a good link to what's needed? I have not found anything usable yet. We have zen in place and even if we didn't I'd script this up and have it run on login. It's so aggrevating to not be able to know if an "open" *IS* an open.. or if it's a browse.
Argh!
if auditing is important, take a look at LT Auditor from BlueLance software. Works great for tracking /alerting/ reporting on who did what, where and when, & is far simpler than Nsure Audit and much less expensive. It is also more granular as far as how to limit what you get reported to you. For...
I would call the mfrs directly on this one. I know GW has issues with Japanese (it works but not 100%).
I brought this issue to the engineers at Brainshare this year. IIRC, the fundamental issue is with the size of the ISO files (character files). Chinese presents a unique problem as you have...
What do you need to do with the backup? If you are looking for a 'bare metal restore' you would be better off with Portlock which will let you image a netware server. This is your fastest recovery method, and not terribly expensive.
For zen - what are you backing up? Unless you are doing asset...
Changing settings.txt does not affect PXE boots. To do that you have to edit the linux.2 file and edit the settings.txt which is embedded there. There is a cool solutions article on doing just this. search the novell site. (this is assuming you're on Zen 4 or 6.x)
There is no problem with your HDD.
Older versions of Zen used a partition on the HD to house the linux files. Most new installs don't use this anymore, opting instead to use PXE or a Zen CDrom.
Proxy is referring to your proxy DHCP server. if you want to roll out images automatically you...
There are a bunch of settings for this. Go to TOOLS-->OPTIONS-->SEND and look at the MAIL tab.
How is this set?
Return notification should be set to "none" and "none" for 'when opened' and 'when deleted'.
ps: gw5 is no longer supported - might be a good time to look at gw6.5 or gw7 which...
..and it's one of my favorite features! No pleasing everyone though. ;)
To shut it off:
open your address book
go to the FILE menu
Select "name completion search order"
Check the box labeled "disable name completion"
What I do, just FYI is have it only use my Frequent Contacts and I have it...
I have always been told to keep the tape and data fabrics seperate, but it is possible to link the 2 data fabrics you have via an ISL or "e" port. This is like chaining ethernet switches essentially, but again you should zone. This is how you can mesh your fabrics.
Not sure how rdac figures...
sounds like a zoning problem. Can each HBA "see" each controller, eg:
if you zone single initiator you should have:
zone 1
hba-1 on serverA
controller A on fastT
controller B on fastT
zone 2
hba-2 on server A
controller A on FastT
controller B on FastT
This will control what the server can...
Hi Cam:
We have all of our luns on netware failover as host type and are using the LSIMPE. Failover is fine. We're on 6.5.2 currently. IBMSAN is not really supported on 6.5 - it was a stopgap in NW6. IBM reccomends using the Netware MPIO.
I would second the suggestion to disable hyperthreading...
my 2c I have a 2 node groupwise cluster. 1 node has 2 cpu, 2nd has 1 cpu. Both have 4GB RAM. I don't notice the 2nd cpu in normal operation even when I fail the whole system onto 1 box. It helps with indexing jobs etc, but does add complexity (you open yourself up to any SMP code bugs/issues)...
the server migration tool does this very fast, supports long file names and maintains proper trustee relationships etc. afaik you can't script it, but if you have a lot of data to move, this is (IMHO) the best way to do it. The jobs you create get saved so re-running a job is pretty easy and it...
you need to use a product called Novell Native File Access. It shipped with Netware 6 & 6.5. This "announces" the netware volumes via CIFS, NFS and AFP and then your Solaris box can mount the Netware volume. We use this feature here to run our accounting system which is Solaris based, but saved...
