    Mapping Drives

Thank you for the information. I had created logon scripts for the local drives but can you tell me how to create a log on script that will be able to authenticate to the share? I currently can't give the user permissions to the share so I need to set up the script to be able to authenicate to...

    Web Developer Career

I am in a similar situation where I am working full time while I have a family. I started to go to school through a local college online. I have found the experience invaluable. If I only have time to work at midnight then no one at the school is going to tell me that I can't. It is hard...

    Consultant Ethics

Just as a follow up to this discussion I found out how they were getting into the network. They had set up TS on the firebox under a deceptive name that made me think that it was there for the credit card company. Then they gave one of the guest accounts Domain Admin rights. They knew that...

I use a product called Emco Network Inventory that gives very complete reports about everything on any computer on your network. They have trial downloads that you can try. Here is their website: www.emco.is

    Consultant Ethics

The business is a retail facility so the users have access to the servers and passwords. They do not have their own user names and passwords because the terminals are used as cash registers that are accessed by many users. I do know for a fact that the account was added to the AD on May 15th...

    Security Prevention

Can anyone please recommend how I should handle a security breach in my network? I had two consultants that were terminated. They brought all three of my networks up and so they are intimately familiar with the system. I found that they had added a user to the AD that they had given Domain...

    Consultant Ethics

My company grew into the need for an IT person. They currently have three businesses with vastly different IT needs. As they grew they kept doing business with this company which handled both IT and Electric work. They used this company to do the IT and electric work at the two new businesses...

    Service Pack 2

I installed Service Pack 2 on my computer. I have several wireless networks that I connect to on my WAN. I had them all set up and working correctly. One of my connections overlaps between buildings. I choose to disconnect one of my wireless connections because I needed to work in a specific...

    Exchange and Active Directory

One way I was thinking about doing this would be to create a trust between my domains and then add the trusted domains to my Exchange server. Is this a good way to approach it?

    Exchange and Active Directory

I have three established networks that will be connected using layer 3 switches in the next month. The company does not want to combine the active directories together for the three networks. They are currently using a program called Mail Daemon to get e-mail. They want to migrate to an...

    SQL Server Memory

I have 1 GB of Memory on my server which is running Microsoft SQL server for our Accounting and Contact Management software. The SQL server is taking up 914,000k of memory. This is really bogging down our server. Do you have any suggestions as to how to lower the amount of memory it takes to...

    Windows 2000

That is all correct except that the Site A clients can map to the Site B server. The new Site B server that was installed today can not map to the Site A server. The remaining Site B computers (client XP machines) can map to the Site A server.

    Windows 2000

I have 4 other machines over there that do have their drives mapped to the network without any problems. I have WINS set up at both ends. The 4 other machines are running XP Pro. I don't think that it could be a router configuration problem since the other machines are visible to the network.

I have a Windows 2000 server at a remote location. It is connected to this facility by a T1 line. It can see the servers located at the other facility but I can not map drives to the other servers on the network. On the main server I am not seeing this server listed in the available...
