to update -- found solution:
had re-installed W98se, but had not re-installed Outlook Express, or had installed it but had set windows update personal settings to exclude OE.
x.WAB written by oe6 WAB.exe not readable by oe5 WAB.exe.
Solution was to update OE to OE6. That also updates WAB.exe.

how do I get the values "a b c" and 27 into variables within the pgm
How to recover data in WAB file that gives msg: "the specified file does not seem to be a valid Address Book file" in W98SE. Backup of file has same problem. The program works OK on empty or newly created WAB file.

have a Dell 286 (1987) box that works fine except VDT is fried. Drive holds PICK (R83) OS. Trying to put all data (not OS) from 40 MB MFM hard drive to floppy for eventual transfer to Pick-like system on P2 machine. Rather difficult w/o a VDT on 286.
