Mr. Breeze, Depending on what type of machine you have. You could try pulling out the NIC and giving it a good blow/clean and reinsert it back in to the PCI slot (real good).... It seems like a lot of work, but in the end it may relieve that 10% of annoyance.

Dude, try installing netBEUI on WIN98 machine. Browse to your NIC properties. Click "advanced" select protocol-and then slect netBEUI. Reboot log-in accordingly and you should be good to go.
