The PCB board on the hard drive may be confussing the O/S. To test this do the folllowing. Swap out the PCB from the bottom of the hard drive. Remember ard drives are serialized.

Most likely you are grounding out on or within something. Check under the mother board to ensure there are no extra standoffs. Standoffs are the little metal haxes or clips the screws holding your m/b in place.
If your m/b has a jumper to set or reset the cmos make sure it is in the correct position. If this is not the case then try yet another battery and if that does not do it you may want to check under the m/b to make sure there are no extra standoffs under it grounding it out.
