mikrom
Great! It works with...
/usr/xpg4/bin/awk
So feherke, in other words you're saying it's variants of the same commands complying with different standards.
Thanks again, I really appreciate the help.
Hello mikrom
With awk on Solaris I get...
awk: syntax error near line 3
awk: illegal statement near line 3
and if I use /usr/xpg4/bin/awk I get...
line 5 (NR=1): wrong number of arguments to function ""
Unfortunately I do not have gawk. Solaris has awk and nawk, which does not seem to have...
Hello techies
I am trying to print key-value pairs specifically:
the date and time and the values for HOST and USER
This is the sample input text.
<txt>20-JUL-2015 07:58:22 * (CONNECT_DATA=(SID=ORADB3)(CID=(PROGRAM=perl)(HOST=winserver5)(USER=oem))) *...
Hello tek-tippers
For my Windows Weblogic Reports server, I have a logfile that grows quite large in location $INSTANCE_NAME\diagnostics\logs\REPSRV01 and it's named ..... "console~REPSRV01~1.log".
I do not find where it is configured so that I can setup log rotation for it. For now I have to...
Definitely a typo in the post, hoinz.
We have found this in the 10gR2 documentation.
...you cannot add, drop, enable, or disable a referential integrity constraint that involves two tables if one table is version-enabled and the other is not version-enabled. Both tables must be...
Hello again Techies,
I suspect a bug in my Workspace Manager. When the spatial support person secures the tables for versioning, it does not allow you to alter the constraints on the table. This is expected behaviour. So Oracle provides packages to alter these versioned tables via a "temp"...
I had a look at dba_tab_columns and see it is ordered by COLUMN_ID. Is it advisable to change the ID of the table's columns to suit the user? My instincts say there are too many dependencies/relationships to mess with that COLUMN_ID.
Goodday techies,
I have been asked an unusual question by our spatial developer. Is it possible to change/customise the display order of the columns when doing a DESCRIBE?
Reason: The Geomedia application uses the describe command to list the column/features, thus he prefers to change the order...
Thanks for responding jet042. That command will sure go to my list of useful admin shortcuts. Unfortunately it does not retrieve the info I am looking for.
The network administrator, says he could use HP's ILO to access the info.
Thanks again.
Hi Techies,
In the past I used to be an AIX admin and was spoilt by commands such as lsdev and lsattr, to retrieve the hardware information such as server serial and model numbers....firmware revisions, etc.
Is there an equivalent command in Suse to retrieve such info, specifically the serial...
It's been a long month. I have yet to try this scenario.
I have in the meantime found that the client has made a copy (via cold backup) of this database, which means it is identical in structure to the database they lost. Unfortunately they have OPEN NORESETLOGS this copy database and have...
Thank you dbtoo2001. I have also found this link.

It's going to be a long week. Will update at the end of the exercise.
Currently working my way thru a disaster. Scenario is as follows:
Lost all datafiles due to SAN crash. All backups are also lost due to 3rd-party backup-product catalog corruption, faulty and overwritten media. The only files I have available are system, temp, undo and user, all restored from...
Thanks for the responses guys. Do appreciate them. I have worked around this by doing FULL=y.
I would still like to test your suggestions, and then let you know if it worked.
I know this is probably something for the scripting forum, but I only get this when using FROMUSER.
How do I escape the space in a schema name.
Example
imp username/password file=filename fromuser="John's TABS" touser=MYDATA
In the "John's TABS" portion it will not import because of the...
I just imported my 8.0.5 dump, done with 805 exp utility, into my new 10.2.0.2 database using the 10g imp utility. Worked like a charm. Just have to get the users to verify the data integrity, though.
Thanks for the suggestions. I am leaning towards importing the databases into 9iR2, seeing as the 9i import utility is backward compatible with previous versions' export dumps. Also, both the source databases are tiny....10GB and 5GB.
oradba101, I read that the upgrade path is to first go 8174...
Hello all,
I am almost too embarassed to ask, but I need to migrate a customer's databases (7.3 and a 8.0.5) to 10gR2, following the recommended upgrade path. Because these are desupported versions, I cannot find the 817 Enterprise for Windows installation cds anywhere. My previous customers...
