I deleted the alternate DNS server from the TCP/IP Properties list and ran the flush, re-register, start, stop routine.

You are right. The problem is the same. UNfortunately, if I understand the article correctly, I can find no wildcard character in the GUID record within _msdcs. Scavanging is not enabled.
I guess you didn't read my original message. I tried the soluton you suggest. I also reviewed all the "published fixes" before posting this request for help.
