My Squid box has two links connecting to the internet... one slower and the other much faster. The default route is set to the slower link and won't be changed. I'd like to direct all traffic from Squid to the faster link while keeping the slower link as the default route. Is it possible?
I'm new to Squid and I'd like to make the most out of it. Below is the hardware settings of the server:
1. 2.4GHz Xeon (with HT)
2. 30G SCSI HD
3. 1.5G Ram
4. Fedora Core 5
5. Squid 2.6 STABLE 13
6. EXT 3 filesystem
In fact, Squid is running on default settings and is running fine on the...
How do you prohibit users from switching into suspend, sleep and standby mode. I also don't want these options to be available on the menu when users click on Start -> Turn off computer.
I'm trying to get cachemgr.cgi to work... whenever I click on the continue button on the cachemgr screen, it gives me the "socket: (13) Permission denied" error.
What do I need to solve the problem???
... I've given up to recover files on my own... a few data recovery centers out there guarantee me with a 99% recovery rate... but they charge me for $80~$100 for a single hard drive recovery. Anyone of you out there know what they do to recover files? Do you think they can re-link those...
Thank you all of you for the advice... In fact, I tried different recovery utilities... all of them successfully found the file on the hard drive... but the files recovered are mostly unreadable. Some of the files are split into many fragments and I'm unable to join them together...
Tried some...
Have you recovered all the files yet? Same thing happened to me yesterday and now I lost almost everything... I hope you've fixed the drive and please share with me your experience if you've fixed the drive.
I accidentally quick-formatted a hard drive with two NTFS partitions during Win XP installation. I can retrieve some of the files on one of the partitions using GetDataBack or similar utilities... but many files are fragmented and some of the recovered files are not even readable.
Is there any...
I modified the password of a 3Com 4924... but I can't login using the new password. What should I do to reset the password while keeping the existing settings?

Thank you very much for your reply.
There are over 150 users during the peak... they are all distributed over the whole campus. We are using cable network, which covers part of the school only. The principal wants all teachers to use their notebooks freely inside the classrooms, that's why...
I work in a school made up of three building blocks, plus the basketball field and the football field, the whole campus spans an area of 200m x 100m. Two buildings have 4 storeys and the other one has 3 storeys. All buildings have quite a number of rooms in them and the walls are pretty thick...
Something regarding performance...
The DHCP server runs several virtual interface that connects to all VLANs (8 in total). There is no need for broadcast forwarding now and workstations on all VLANs can now obtain the IPs according to the VLANs and subnets they belong to...
Just wondering...
I've created a public directory for the public to save data, and I'd like to restrict the size of this particular directory to 100M.
Actually, what I'm doing is a Blog site that allows public to post attachments, which are stored by the system in a folder. Files are written using Apache:Apache...
Hmm... that's one way out... do you think we can have a better solution? One that combines the two so that the first workstation accessing the video can play the video thru streaming while the Squid is caching the same video?
Jimmy
Environment: Squid 2.5 STABLE9 running on FC4
When my workstations try to access YouTube or Google Video... etc, the Squid seems to cache all the video first before presenting to the workstations. What do I need to do if I want my workstations to play the video on loading.

I have a server running Fedora Core 4. I used to enter the route command manually when additional routes to different networks are required... and the routes have to be re-entered once the server is restarted.
A silly question: Where can I find the file that stores these routes on the Linux...
Thank you very much, LawnBoy. My task is almost complete. I've now segmented the school network into several VLANs... it could never be finished without your help.

Environment:
The 4924 is the core of the network. 4400 connects both the 4924 and a 3Com Baseline:
3Com 4924 ----- 3Com 4400 ----- 3Com Baseline
I want to create a VLAN (say, VLAN 5) for all the workstations attached to the 3Com Baseline. Can I simply tag the port that connects the 4400...
