Check the following:
The computer may be trying to boot from another device first such as a raid controller or network, etc.
On some Intel MB's certain Cdroms cause the computer to take forever to boot. Try unpluging the CDROM and see if it boots faster.

I wouldn't worry about the drivers. Windows XP will likely find them all. In my opinion the best idea is to delete the current partition, recreate it, then format and continue loading Windows XP. All this can be done with the Windows XP CD during the setup process.
