Answering my own question. Had looked for answers on other forum earlier ... then realized I should have searched on /etc/release. When I did that I found my answer. For future questions on this subject here are snippets from various Solaris forum responses to questions about /etc/release...
We are running Solaris 10 Update 1 on multiple servers. We have maintained patches on these servers as they were released. A vendor is telling us that their software will not run on our servers unless we are running Solaris 10 Update 3. It's our contention that since we're patched up we have all...
Long story on the reason. The short version : e-mail routing through network 143 to network 205 will be turned off soon. We'll need to route it through the nic on network 10 to network 205 ... but the 143 will continue to exist.
The NICs are on different subnets. I received a reply to this question from a similar post on forums.sun.com that read as follows:
Got the following reply:
Solaris does not support source routing.

We have a Solaris server with 2 NICs. Incoming traffic may originate from either NIC A or NIC B. We would like to force all outbound traffic through NIC B. Is there a Solaris solution? Routeadm? Thanks!
We've never used mailertable before. Is this really the best option?
So are you suggesting something like this in mailertable:
y.a.b.c smtp:[y.a.b.c]
?
We have a local mail server with mail forwarding set up in sendmail.cf (sendmail version 8.13.7+Sun) to send e-mail out of our local network (intranet) to a set of mail servers on the internet.
The problem with this is that ALL LOCAL e-mail is also going to the internet mail servers instead of...
On a test / dev platform we used platform816_upgrade_solaris32.bin as provided by BEA to perform an upgrade from weblogic 8.1 sp3 to 8.1 sp6. The upgrade was successful. On an identical server (production)we attempted to follow the same steps with the same upgrade executable and it failed. Very...
Thanks Dian.
Here's what I see in startWebLogic.sh:
CLASSPATH="${WEBLOGIC_CLASSPATH}:${POINTBASE_CLASSPATH}:${JAVA_HOME}/jre/lib/rt.jar:${WL_HOME}/server/lib/web
services.jar:${CLASSPATH}"
I'm sort of a newbie. Are you suggesting I look at the manifest for webservices.jar. If so, how is that...
please excuse my ignorance ... but ... what is a clariion 9137? I'm working on a clariion emc certification and I haven't heard of this model. Is this a fairly old machine?
Looks like users of tek-tips should exercise caution when receiving advice from others :-).
It turns out that the df -k command is apparently working properly on my linux box. The problem was that I rm'd the access_log file and should have cat /dev/null'd it instead. Apache didn't get it that...
It turns out that the df -k command is apparently working properly. The problem was that I rm'd the access_log file and should have cat /dev/null'd it instead. Apache didn't get it that the file was rm'd so it hung onto it ... somewhere in the system ... and the / partition numbers reflected the...
Df -k produces the following output for /home & /:
[pzxkys@default log]# df -k

I moved the apache access_log to my home dir in /home. When no new access_log was created (after an hour or so) I created an empty copy of a access_log. This access_log is not being updated by apache. Do I need to restart apache? Also: The 330+ mbyte access_log that I moved did not free up any...
