I think that must be what's freaking out hyperterminal. All makes sense, just couldn't document it anywhere. You guys always come through. Thanks for the valuable information.

Thanks for the tip. I realize that only SMDR or API can be active, it's just that the SMDR data is readable on hyperterm and with API "ON" the data is not readable. Guess my question comes down to "is the API data only usable by a secondary program and not readable using hyperterminal?"...

Can any of the gurus tell me what the output to hyperterminal should look like with API on? If I turn it off, the SMDR data displays as plain text. If I turn it on the data displays as a mixture of numbers and ascii characters.

For all you do, this Bud's for you!!!! Thanks to itpphoneguy,punchtool, and tttommy - you guys got me on track. I went upstairs, counted my extensions, put 24 & 25 back in the hg7, verified no other ext assigned and the receptionist will be a happy gal when she comes in today!

By the way..... The receptionist tells me that now when she tries to use the VM Transfer feature, the call is not immediately going into the ext's mailbox,instead it is ringing for the amount of their VMS cover rings.
I know I should be getting smarter, but it seems I'm just getting further and...
Just a follow-up. I double checked Ext 30 & 31, they were not assigned. I noticed that Ext 78 & 79 had immediate line ringing, so I changed to no ring and voila. I didn't know that 78/79 should affect the system - anybody want to help a novice?

I've tried restarting the system.It is a 4 port so 26-29 should be my vm ports. I'll assign buttons to those ports and see what happens, but it does appear that multiple ports are trying to answer a call. When I dial those ext, the system answers with the usual, welcome to pm.

Thanks for the idea, however all lines at voice mail ports are set to "no ring". I thought that having them in HG7 would take care of that anyway,but didn't leave it to chance. I can dial the voice mail extensions and get the system.

We have a Partner ACS R6 with Partner Messaging R6. Today, out of the blue, an incoming call is picked up by the AA, and the system says "your call is being transferred".Two lines are showing in use and Ext 10 gets the call on an intercom transfer.
