TIA is probably more recognized than CompTIA (in certain circles). I know some vendors require CTP as a base level cert before you can get certified on their gear. Check out the CTP website to see the companies that support the CTP. If you are more IT focused then...

While they may be a source for a quick lookup, I don't put a lot of faith into wikis.
After looking at the above link, it appears to be a little thin on substance. For Server+, I still recommend the Trevor Kay Server+ Bible and additional research on the web. A lot of the Server+ exam is...
It's very doable. Just remember... there is a right answer, a wrong answer, and a CompTIA answer.
Questions on the exam will ask things like, " what is the BEST option..." The answer you might use in the real world might not jive with the "textbook" answer. Just think in terms of "best...

Think of it as an investment in your career. Is your career and future earnings potential worth the investment? Only you can answer that question but in my own instance, I would answer with a resounding "YES!".
Stop thinking on such a small scale and pony up the cash...
You can make a new career in IT. It has been done many times before.
First certification exam is a new experience. A certain amount of test anxiety is to be expected. having seen the Essentials exam, you now have a much better idea what the exam is all about and how it is written, etc.
I...
You are looking at this whole thing the wrong way. You shouldn't worry about how many you can get wrong. It's the old half empty/ half full.
Concentrate on overstudying so that you have a larger margin for error. You just might retain the knowledge a little better, as well...
The link still works.
It's true that the posted guide has not been updated for the 2007 exam which was recently released (the old exam was retired on Nov 30, 2007). I have not been approached for a revision and quite honestly, I've got too many irons in the fire at present.
Consider the...
hey, I'm just quoting the CompTIA rhetoric. Your instance merely reflects the fact that you are smarter than the average bear. 8o)>

This axiom is not necessarily true in all cases. Determining a cut score is more of that psychometric voodoo whereby the SMEs determine weighting for the objectives, beta testing provides metrics for review and then the SMEs review the beta results and set the cut score.
In this particular...

Yes, Net+ would be a logical next step.
I, myself , am not a MS clone so I can't advise you in that direction (others may disagree).
Yes, unplug from the video games. Certification is an exercise in self disipline so FOCUS!
I'm a firm believer in "Everybody gets what they want." If you don't...
Yes, the last revision of the Network+ exam was in 2005. You will see the exam listed as Network+ 2007 but that is in name only. You will be good using materials for the 2005 exam. It's a marketing thing.

CompTIA keeps the scoring methods a well kept secret. Last time I was up in Oakbrook Terrace, I specifically asked and I was politely told that they don't reveal the scoring methods for exam security reasons. In reality, it helps facilitate their "unscored questions." CompTIA figured out that...
