Thanks for the suggestion - was a good thought! I had copied the files on to the desktop and they are no longer read only. Its still not working though.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I have tried importing the dbx files as OE 4 and OE6 but it gives the same error message regardless. Any other ideas?

I have some old .dbx files on CD that I am trying to import back into Outlook Express 6. The old dbx files were created on Windows 98 and I am now running on Windows XP.

Thanks for that. Shame there's no easy solution. I have already changed the My Documents location for all users so this outlook attachments quirk seems to be the only thing which is causing people to save things in C: Hopefully Microsoft will do something about this is the next version?!

Outlook 2000 always defaults to a directory called OLK25 in temp internet files when you try and save an attachment. As I am trying to discourage my users to save anything on their C: drives, it would be nice to be able to change this default but I can't see an obvious way round it.
