    Communicate with keypad device on comm port

    I am trying to modify a Clipper Point of Sale application written using the Summer '87 version. The requirement is to add a pin-pad (connected via comm port)to enter a debit card security code. Does anyone know how to communicate with such devices over a comm port? TIA
