I am after how many prefixes are received from a BGP peer, something something similar to cbgpPeerPrefixAdvertised (unfortunately this isn't supported on my platform).
I have searched through 1.3.6.1.2.1.15.3.1.x & 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.9.187.x and can't find the correct MIB.

My script telnets a router & does a traceroute on the device & then returns the output $response to a webpage. However when doing a traceroute to non reachable destinations, the trace continually times out until the (cisco) default of 30 icmp echos is completed, see below...

One of the best (but messy) ways I've found is to configure a scale of route-maps setting the weight to x according to the AS path length of inbound routes. This way all BGP routes with an AS path of (eg)two will be preferred by the one link due to higher weight. You can then set the other link...
A couple things, if your ISP can telnet the router & you can ping externally from the device, then near enough the pvc & WAN side is set up correctly. It sounds like you have a L3 routing issue. I am presuming that your publicly addressed devices can access the Internet via this ISP (if not...
