    From my understanding they are purposely making the TCP/IP stack weak (and say it is inheritly so) so that they can push TCP/MS and have the Microsoft Internet Protocol. BTW it does support IPv6 addressing scheme from what I heard. This gets me to pondering would it be M$v6? Hmmmmmmm,,,,,,,

    *nix if you can find a position is good. I can't say about the future. I hope it will be incredible in the future. Right now it is not wide spread enough and I would consider it a speciality field. Solaris is spread out a bit in the corporate environment because it goes hand in hand with Oracle...

    That is M$ from the beginning. Only thing that has changed is the file size and the number of undocumented features(i.e. bugs) ;)

    Ok ... A positive note. Some companies are transitioning to remote administration by there helpdesk. Helpdesks are hiring Net Admin. people. Of Course they are paying helpdesk pay. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Fine print :)

    Possible career options

    Stay put for the time being, but transition to Solaris and pickup Oracle skills. Even in this job market their is a high demand. You can sprinkle in a little Sybase and SQL but Oracle is where the money and demand are.

    How about a requirement by law to fix bugs? The government is telling them how to create their product already, why not put a legal requirement to fix bugs when found? I am no fan of M$, and I think they should have been defunct back when they were seriously stealing code in the early years...
