If you do not want the code copied, just compile it. If you don't want the ideas stolen. Don't release it. You can copyright code, but not ideas. Pacman was supposed to be copyrighted, but even before it's copyright died, thousands of imitations were made. Copyrights are not free and cost...
If no input is need from the user, but you want to pause until the user presses a key, just type "sleep". When no time is specified with it, it waits until a key is pressed. This is not good if you are going to use inkey$ for input directly after the sleep, as the input seeps out to the inley$...
I still think it is version related. On my post for my problem with my encode program, qbasic 1.1 was giving me errors. I downloaded qbasic 4.5 and it worked just fine.
