Thanks for the repsonse. It turns out that the backup software that came with the tape drive was causing the problem. I went to MSCONFIG and disabled it from the start up. The PC has been running great.
PC is a Dell GX150, 1GHz processor, PS2 Wheel mouse, 128MB DIMM, 20GB IDE HDD.

The clock in the system tray displays incorrect time,(i.e., time form last evening or last night) which is corrected on reboot...
Go to a DOS prompt and do a DIR *.pst and DIR *.pab. You may need to do a DIR/ah to show the files with the h attribute. See if the .pab and .pst files are there. I know it sounds weird but I once had a problem where I could not find a file via Windows but was able to find it in DOS.
