Outlook Express 6 is so sslloooooww!!
a tip I saw for this on another site worked beautifully for me. The tip was to RENAME messenger's .EXE file to a different filename (keeping the .exe extension, of course)... that way OE doesn't find it when it starts up and so doesn't load it at all. I did this, and outlook express...- phaedrus99
