From what I gather, Trailblazer has more TrustedLink/400 users than IPNet. I've been using Trailblazer with several trading partners for quite a while now. Great product, great support, if you run EDI on an AS/400 their product is the way to go. I looked at the other option but they required...
Wal-Mart flips the switch to go live on Tuesdays. Once your AS2 connection test is successful, they will want you to run parallel with dial-up for at least a week. You will then be put into production on a following Tuesday once the week is up.
These are specification standards for communicating EDI data over the Internet.
AS1 - specifies SMTP(simple mail) as the means by which EDI documents are transmitted and received.
AS2 - specifies HTTP (hyper-text transfer protocol) as the means of transportation of data.
A good place to look...
If you're on the AS/400, I absolutely recommend taking a look at Trailblazer Systems. Among the many benefits, I avoided having to do an $$$ CPU upgrade for the 400 that some of the other vendors highly recommended before doing an install. That made management very happy.
I would like to add...
Not too familiar with Cleo. What EDI translator are you running? For EDIINT for the AS/400, certainly take a look at Trailblazer Systems. They directly integrate with our translator. Support is great!
I use Trailblazer AS2 with several companies, including Meijer, Lowe’s, and GEIS network. I have signed up already with Wal-Mart for a testing date with the Trailblazer product. In fact, Trailblazer got me tested and set up in about a day and a half. Great product, great support, if you run...
Townsend does have a product, your right. We looked at both. It was apparent to us that Trailblazer had the better product, cost was similar. We use their PGP solution daily, works great!
Now that WalMart has begun their EDI initiative, has anyone run into any horror stories with finding and implementing an AS2 solution. This forum would be a good place to share those stories, maybe we can all learn from others experiences.
kuberski,
You may have run into the same situation as us. Many of the banks and financial institutions we work with are now mandating FTP with PGP for electronically transmitting various documents. I found that Trailblazer Systems is the only one that provides PGP for the AS/400. And I might...
Interesting article from Gartner that someone posted on another thread. I thought it bears repeating on this thread since it is Walmart related. Gartner provides a good basis for making AS2 software compatibility purchasing decisions:

edianalyst,
I can see how isoft can become expensive. Let me know how things work out for you. If I can be of any help, you can contact me off-list at tommy8675@yahoo.com
edianalyst,
I found the Trailblazer solution very reasonable - well worth investigating. Did I read on another thread that you're PC-based? We're 400-based, however, I did get a newsletter from them stating that they do have a PC product. Maybe that will help in your search. How expensive...
WalMart, Meijer, Kohls.....I sense that we'll see more and more retailers go this route. I haven't heard anything on KMart, what protocol will they be supporting?
For EDIINT, we're going w/Trailblazer. We already use their ftp product and are very happy with it. I don't think you have to own...
Wal-mart has finally made public that they will be mandating to their suppliers to move to Secure Internet EDI. I've seen several other companies move to this as well, but obviously not the giant as is Wal-Mart. Has anyone run into a situation where their customer or supplier is requiring...
The FTP supported in the latest TLE package is only native FTP, so it is like programming your own text scripts. From what I understand, the Trailblazer product allows CL-scripting and encryption and stuff. I believe they wrote their own ftp client so they get around some of the major...
Triumph95,
If you'd like to keep it on the AS/400, take a closer look at Trailblazer. Their support is very familiar with the TL EDI/400 translator. They were also able to provide us numerous references. The other cos. mentioned wouldn't provide any who were AS/400 shops.
Cheers!
