There are two types of APPC LUs, dependent and independent. If you are connecting via a program that uses APPC or CPIC, you want independent. Otherwise, you want dependent.
That's the starting point. You then need to assign those LUs to the correct configured users.

Hi all:
(1) is the client connecting to HIS via sponsor connection or via TN3270??
(2) is the client connecting to the HIS server as a 5250? 3270? or as an LUA or LU 6.2 application of some flavor?
(3)what's your link service (SDLC, 802.2....)
(4) Yes, it makes a difference (:
(5) If it...
First - we'll be trying two clients on HIS 2000 SP 1 - IBM Personal Communications, and also the HIS 3270 client. Our objective is to create sessions that support 3270 extended atributes (reverse video, blink, etc.)
Second, we're wondering about HIS 2004, and whether that is relevant to our...
HI - long time no hear
We're going to be doing a set of experiments with LUA to TN3270, and also direct (no client) access from an emulator to TN3270.
I'll let you know if we run across that problem
I'm currently running Crystal 8.0 against Oracle 9i, with good results. I'd like to move to Crystal Reports 10, since all the intermediate steps seem almost as expensive as 10, and Crystal Reports 10 has a native PDF writer, which I think would be easy enough for me to use.
Anybody know which...
Sounds like you are still having something of a problem.
I think it would help to distinguish for you the connection from the the LU to LU sessions.
The connection is what, as I read your description, goes into "Pending" Status. CICS does not service the connection, the VTAM PU on...
No - the customer isn't licensed for Attachmate at this point. But if Attachmate Extra! supports extended attributes through the HIS Server Client, I might be able to twist their arm.
I've also thought about trying the HIS TN3270E support, but when I gave it a short try a few months ago I got...
Some of my customers use a mainframe application that needs a 3270 emulator. This application screen heavily uses the 3270 "Extended Attributes" (blink, reverse video, etc.) to give the user visual cues to navigation.
I don't believe the Host Integration Server (HIS) 3270 Client...
This problem can occur for one of two reasons;
(1) - Sometimes the other end wont allow you in unless it gets a hard reset from the SNA server instance.
(2) - This is a Microsoft product - some of their programmers (esp in the mainframe interface area) consider the boot button as part of...
Sounds to me like the message might be coming from the client. And it sounds to me like the client might be thinking it is trying to open a sponsor connection instead of an AD connection. But that needs to be confirmed by the user.
I think there will be joy in mudville as soon as I can get back to the ailing server. Thanks for the help.
Yep, RPC seems to be the villian - if it doesnt start, and it wont, I see that a whole bunch of things break.
And, yep, RPC errors were what we( and I guess everybody) was seeing when...
MANY thanks for an excellent post - in my case, though, I still cant get any of several WIN XP PRO services started including the crypto and installer services. So I cant get to square one installing the blaster patch.
I did execute all the steps you discussed, and got no error messages (other...
Further thought:
It is TRUE that Host Integration Server comes with an SNA Demo link service. The demo service is good looking but tells you little about whether your setup will work on real hardware. It simply puts up a realistic looking TSO session -EVEN WHEN THE SERVERR HAS NO PHYSICAL...
In our case, at least, dlsw is the only option the customer will consider. It would help me to know if, when using dlsw, do you use the 802.2 link service that comes with Host Integration Server, or do you use a custom link service? If it is custom, what is the source?
If you just want to test connectivity, HIS comes with tools to do this.
You don't say whether the session you want to establish is LU2 or LU 6.2. There are a couple of recent threads on this forum on that subject.
I have some information on Iring's excellent Post.
(1) Yes - absolutely - the HIS CLIENT comes with a piece of software (the 3270 client), that you an use to log into 3270 sessions.
HOWEVEVER
(a) to my knowledge, a 3270 session from the 3270 client can only be established if HIS or SNA sever...
A few points to remember about the Sangoma product.
(1) The card I'm using is an "all-in-one card" - at least with Frame Relay - no separate CSU DSU to worry about.
(2) The Sangoma drivers are a little tricky to install.
(3) You have to make sure you've configured the card for what...
We are helping put up a frame relay connection from HIS to a remote SNA node. Haven't seen your exact problem yet. Are you running 802 over Frame Relay? We are thinking of experimenting with the Sangoma Card configured for frame relay.
