I just went back to the server admin window and now initialize database is an option!
I'm not sure if it just had to read in the whole database before it became an option or what. I was also running the BrightStor diagnostic information wizard in the background... maybe that...
We're not using a SQL database... everything appears to be in a DATABASE folder. Any other ideas as to why this option would be greyed out?
It looks like we're leaning back towards a complete reinstall :-(
Thanks again.
Cyklops: Thank you so much, that makes perfect sense. I will do that in the future.
slixtreme: this sounds exactly like what we want to do! This would save us a lot of time so we don't have to go and reinstall the whole thing. The only problem is that "Initialize Database..." is a greyed-out...
Trying one more time... has anyone run into this before? Do I need to stop the engine and delete something from the registry in order to completely delete a media pool?
Thanks for any help you can give.
Well, I tried that with no luck.
I created a completely new media pool but I'm still getting no serial number at all. The Job Status shows Serial Number: N/A.
Also something I strange I noticed... when I put in a tape from a media pool that has been deleted, the media pool somehow reapears! Is...
We recently took two different arcserve setups and combined them onto one system. In the process we changed from a 5-day weekly back to GFS.
When I first started off the weekly set seemed to be using the wrong serial numbers. It was using 1800000's instead of 1900000's. After looking around a...
I was just searching around and I saw this post... When I try to use the code you provided I get an error on Dim appoutlook As Outlook.Application
Is there some special update I need for Access 97 to recognize the "Outlook" object? I tried installing the Data Access stuff in the...
I'm using pre and post batches to turn off everything that may conflict with the backup and I've got this thing working great almost every time... once in a while, however, I get an imcomplete due to sharing violations on the following files:

The clients seem to be updating fine, but the server is still stuck on definitions from July... when I run live update manually It says everything is great and downloads a 4mb file... but the date doesn't change. If I reconnect to liveupdate, it says I'm up to date. If I log back into the...
Yeah, the database was totally messed up. The drive had run out of space... fun.
I restorred up the arcserve database and now everything's working fine. Thank you for you help.
I really need some help here... I just showed up to work today to find out that last night's backup didn't work. When I look in the log I see this:
E4101 Unable to login to database engine. (DATABASE=ARCSERVE, EC=-2005)
When I look at the database window there is nothing there! Job Records...
Did you ever get an answer to this question?
I'm trying to do the same thing:
IIf(IsNull([Account].[LastName]),[Account].[Company],[Account].[Lastname] & ", " & IIf(IsNull([Spouse].[FirstName]),[Account].[FirstName],[Account].[FirstName] & " and " & [Spouse].[FirstName])...
In the backup log I'm getting this:
E8602 failed to read database...
with EC=Backup Agent Error - (83) "Remote pipe open failed: time-out"
When I look at the log file for the backup agent I see this:
