The 133 MHz module should be backward compatible. You did not list ECC in your specifications. I am sure the PowerEdge 2300 reuires ECC memory modules.
Is your Dell 2300 equipped with Pentium II or III processors? Memory modules are different for these two machines. Both machine require SDRAM, PC100, CL2, ECC and can be either registered or unbuffered. I can't remember what the difference is, just that they are not interchangable.
I like to add a second CPU to my 4000R. Does anyone know where I can buy a fan kit that attachs to the CPU, similar to the OEM version?
Also where can I purchase a hard drive mounting bracket.
We have three 2300, three 2400 and three 2500. They all have been working well. The only problem we ever experienced was when the write cache was enabled on the PERC controllers. Once this was disabled the servers are very stable.
Your disk size is 9.1 GB and Windows NT installation does not recognize anything larger than 4 GB. I found it best to run fdisk and create a maximum 4 GB partition. Once you load WinNT OS, you can partition the remainder of the disk.
I had a similar problem. I found I could not mix registered with non-registered memory. The existing 128 and 256 DIMMs are mostly likely non-registered. You may try using just the new 256 DIMM by itself to confirm it works.
