Have you checked where your boot.ini file is pointing to?
You need to make sure that boot.ini is pointing to your winnt folder (or whatever folder you have the Win2000 files stored in), otherwise boot.ini cannot find where to load Win2000
I understand what you are saying, what I don't understand is that even NT (fussy NT) will work with swapping drives at times.
2000 with its 50M driver file should at least be more forgiving.
I have a Hard Drive in one computer running Windows 2000 Professional. I decided to remove that Hard Drive from said computer and place it in another computer, but with no success.
Now, all of my jumpers for the Hard Drive are set correctly, so please don't question that and all hardware is on...
Oh and I did not install any new hardware and I am aware of what the HAL does. I did not try to repair the install for either 2000 or XP because I am not sure where the problem lies with the hal.dll file. To me, since it is a .dll file, does 2000 and XP share it?
I dual boot between Windows 2000 Pro and Windows XP Pro. I can boot into XP, but now I cannot boot to Windows 2000. I get an error, "Missing or corrupt system file
%systemroot%\system32\hal.dll" I am not sure what to do in order to correct the problem other than blow Windows 2000...
