Yes, I've gotten into the router settings and it appears it is not getting the ip from the modem. But I can't figure out why since it supplies an ip to the computer.

Sounds like you're in for an o/s reload for sure. You can backup the drivers using this freeware utility. It works 95% of the time.

If I'm not mistaken, the Maxtor One touch is designed to be a backup system by default, as opposed to just additional storage. Did you install the Maxtor software when you installed the drive? If so, it probably formatted the drive for you. If not, and you're just using it as extra storage...
