I'm assumming your running NT4.0, if so your statement is correct regarding what Microsoft says. Once a pdc always a pdc unless you rebuild it. there is no way to demote you have to rebuild. i would suggest you load sql on another server then move your databases. hope this helps

No, because its linked to the user who created the shortcut, if anyone else logs in on that workstation and trys to launch the shortcut it will error out.

No i'm not doing an unattended install, down loaded FR2 from the web, and ran autorun to get the setup screen. selecting either the FR2 or the SP2 install gets the same error message from the installer.
