Outlook 2000 running on Windows 2000 Professional. When I open Outlook and click on "Send & Receive" my dial-up connection is immediately disconnected.
In Tools/Options/Mail Delivery the box that says "hang up when finished sending, receiving or updating" is not checked.

The responders who recommended all linked elements should be resident on your hard drive are correct. This will resolve most of your issues. Additionally, use "Save As" as opposed to "Save" when updating your files.
You don't say what version of FH or platform you are using. But you can delete your FH preferences file. It will be rebuilt when the program restarts. If you're on a PC, look for FHprefs.txt and delete it (or rename it if you're paranaoid). The same applies to the MAC, but I can't remember what...
Freehand is a robust commercial-grade illustration package, as is Illustrator, that interfaces without problem to both Quark and In-Design. Stick to standard file formats such as EPS for imported work, use postscript fonts, suitable ppd's and postscript printers and you will have no problems.
If your art in PS is really simple without a lot of tonal gradations, you can select areas and convert the selections to paths, which can then be exported out to Illustrator or Freehand, but importing the art into a drawing package, setting it as background and tracing is the more likely way to...
Sony packages Picturegear Lite, a popular utility, with its digital camcorders. It allows you to download still shots to your PC via a serial cable connection. It worked fine with WIN ME and my Sony DCR-TRV720. Now that I'm on WIN2000 Pro, I can't get the PC to communicate with the camcorder...
If Photoshop's behavior becomes erratic and if you've checked the obvious settings, you can always reinitialize Photoshop by deleting the preferences file. I don't recollect the name on the Mac, but with a PC, use the computer's search function for the file: "Adobe Photoshop X...
The other respondents are correct. Illustrations such as Brooks' are easily produced in either Illustrator or Freehand (personally I prefer Freehand). However, because vector drawings have such sharp definition from foreground to background, I will often draw in Freehand, and once my...
To QUICKTIPP:
You are a genius. I followed that chain in the registry, found the offending line, deleted it and the computer is running fine now. Thanks so much
Freehand is a high-end graphics program. It excels at producing EPS files and TIF files, the graphics industry standards. WMF (Windows Meta Files), are about the last choice any graphics professional would ever want to use, and the support for these formats are not very good when converting FH...
Open the layers window. Create a new layer. On that layer, draw a closed selection. Fill it with your Texture (bricks). Then move the selection behind the original layer by dragging the new brick layer below the original layer in the layer window.
Take your art in PS, select it and turn the selection into a clipping path, then save the file as an EPS.
When you import it into FH, if you saved the EPS with a preview TIFF, you will see the art, and not just a box with an X in it. Nevertheless, the preview TIFF in FH will not show the...
You need to provide more information: What kind of file format are you saving to in Photoshop? Photoshop and Freehand are apples and oranges one being bitmap, the other vector based.
Hopefull this is simple, but it's driving me absolutely crackers!
I downloaded KaZaA Media Desktop (a P2P filesharing program) It installed itself on the desktop and also into the startup portion of the taskbar alongside volume control, McAfee av, etc. When Windows loads, KaZaA autolaunches and...
I downloaded updates to my main programs (freehand, acrobat reader), but when I launch the updates I get the message: "Setup has determined that there is no product installed to update. Setup will now terminate."
I don't know if I need to edit the registry or why the updater setup...
Does anyone know how I would deinstall and then reinstall dial-up networking in Windows 2000 Professional?
I have long and sorry history trying to tweak settings to successfully log on to my ISP. My laptop with Win 98 works just fine every time.
