FWIW, I went through all the same kinds of things you guys did, looking for a compiler. I finally ended up going with HB++, and boy am I ever glad I did. It is simply great stuff!

Hi Sarah!
Well...my, my, my...a response! And after only two years! <g>
The answer to your question is: no, I didn't find anyone here who does CASL. And in the mean time, I've guit using CASL myself. It was okay, but very, very limited.
What I'm using now is HB++, and it rocks! FWIW, you...
Simon,
Thanks...I think you've almost answered my question.
Let's say that I have a session variable like "svMyASP."
Further, let's say that I have an option list like this....
<form method="post">
<select name="mySelect">

Cheech...Thanks, but I'm not having problems with the SQL. What I'm having trouble with is knowing how to set the value of a session variable to the value of the item selected from my option list. Once I've got that session variable initialized with the value, I can use it in a SQL where...
I'm butting my head against a wall, and it's starting to hurt!
I'd like my user to select an item from an option list. (Let's call it the skills list.) After they've selected an item, I'd like them to press a submit button that calls up another form that lists all the people in my database...
FWIW, Easy Palm is a crutch. Okay, but not truly useful after you've "coded" your first app and are past the learning curve. IMHO, CASL is about a simple, and a much more powerful beginner's tool.

bbolte,
Truth be told, I haven't done an awful lot of JAVA on the Palm. Mostly that's due to 1) I haven't found that much demand for it; and 2) many of the same reasons sited by Karl in this thread. I tend to mostly go with C on the PALM.
If you want to try it and get your feet wet, I'd...
If you're going to anything but the most basic of stuff, you're going to have to write code. The "industry standard" <drumm roll, please> seems to be CodeWarrior. It's heavy duty, with a steep learning curve. I've used it and it works.
AppForge -- which others have mentioned --...
Hey, are there any other CASL developers out there?
The only place I can find to exchange CASL hints and discussions are on their site. They do a pretty good job, mind you. But I think it would be healthy to have another -- non-CASL company -- place to talk about CASL issues and tips...
