I'm trying to get a KVM to work with Linux during the install. I've heard that the only way to get it to work is to unload the ehci_hcd module from the kernel. Is there a way to do this from GRUB? I've tried 'ehci_hcd=noprobe' on the kernel command in grub, but that doesn't work. lsmod still...
How do I match the folloing string in a line of text? I have to use the $team variable, so I can't escape the $ signs.
Example:
$team = '$moneymaker$';
next if ( $string !~ /$team/ );
It never matches because it evaluates the $moneymaker in the $team string. How do I avoid that?
Coffey's correct. Broadcast will contact every host that is live on the network. To answer your question, as long as you set your netmask correct, ifconfig will interpret the broadcast address if you give the +broadcast option. For example, let's say you have a host with the following info...
I'm kinda new to solaris 10 and there's something I'm curious about. We use solaris 10 on one of our FTP servers. There are numerous active connections to our FTP daemon (WU-FTPD), but I don't see any in.ftpd processes using 'ps -ef'. However, I do see processes listed in prstat and connections...
Whenever I'm trying to telnet/ssh into a solaris 8 server from my linux workstation, the terminal settings do not play well with each other. I'm not able to vi files properly and tail does not work on the solaris server. TERM env is set to vt100 on both sides. Has anyone ever seen this problem?
Does anyone know what role libpopt plays with samba? The reason I ask is that samba is running but libpopt is busted. We're having some weird errors with samba and I wanted to know if libpopt had something to do with it.
Thanks
I've figured out my problem. I had to add all the printers using a windows 2000 machine. Try to add printers using the add printer wizard on a win2k machine instead of an XP machine.
I'm about at my wits end. I can't seem to get the print drivers piece to work for Samba 3.0. If anyone has gotten this to work, could you please post a walk through? I'm trying to have my print server (Red Hat 9) serve drivers for its shared printers to Windows XP machines.
Thanks
I have my printers shared from a Redhat box to a windows network. When I browse to the linux machine's share, I see all of my shared printers. Then I click into "Printers and Faxes" and I see the same printers again only with different icons. The second set allows me to change...
On mandrake 8.2, browsing an NFS mounted directory doesn't list all files. I can see the files from a terminal. But, when I use a browser or file manager of any kind, some files are missing. I've gone through all of the different NFS mounting options, and still nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks
When using Perl 4.0 under HP-UX 11, $SIG{ALRM} is not working. Here is a chunk of code:
$timeout = 10;
$SIG{INT} = 'wrapup';
$SIG{TERM} = 'wrapup';
$SIG{ALRM} = 'timeout';
alarm $timeout;
print ROOTLOG "Before while loop - timeout length=$timeout\n";
$i = 1;
while ($i < 20) {

I had to downgrade a server from 11.11 to 11.0. I had a seperate volume group that I wanted to preserve. After 11.0 was finished installing, I did a vgimport to import it and "vgchange -a y" to activate. Everything went fine. Now, when I try to mount the lvol, it says the...
We're running samba to connect our clients running Win2k to unix servers. The problem we're having is that the NT mapping intermittently disconnects and refuses reconnection without a username and password(which doesn't work even with correct login info). Now, with our system, when you map to...
