Ya'know...
What I really want is a tool that will extract all documents from the SharePoint "Metabase" and put them on disk. Then I could use NTBackup to backup those files...
This could certainly be scripted but I wonder if a tool already exists.
This would get around my #1 fear...
We also had this problem. The only solution we could find (and this came from a MS programmer) was to use the Coordinator role rather than the Author role.

We're running a SPS with FQDN as an extranet.
When we recieve out subscriptions in email they link as if the server was local (LAN Manager name).
We end up with:
http://MACHINENAME/ABC
when we really wanted:
http://MACHINENAME.hks.ca/ABC
Has anyone solved this problem? I can see some...
Veritas eh? We have a copy of Backup Exec that we couldn't get to work on Windows 2000... maybe time for an upgrade.
Has anyone restored SPS from a Veritas backup? Or are we on our own on this one?

Have you tried this? I can send steps if not.

Well, aren't I just Mr Wrong today.
This works if you use the web view in file manager (as link described above) and you have "hidden" files set to visible. For some reason I was looking for a physical file system... I'm not sure I trust these web folders... but we'll see.
So, I...
I've seen this answer before and it's simply not true for Portal Server (it may be true for Team Server).
I'm not sure if Team Server is different from Portal Server or what but I've run a full search on my C: drive and reviewed the official SDK and the .CSS file (OWS.CSS) simply does not...
