I have installed the Ethereal package (ethereal-0.8.14.pkg) on a SCO Openserver 5.0.7. Installation went OK but when I try to start Ethereal I get error messages about "linking problems".
I have studied the SCO Technical article 116949 but my filenames differ from article.
Please help!!
I have installed OSR505 on a laptop PC with two PCMCIA slots, one with a 3Com network card and one with a 56k modem. Network card works fine, but how can I get my PCMCIA modem working? It is not automatically detected by using Modem Manager.
How can I install OpenDesktop 3.2 v 4.2 from an IDE CD-ROM?
During the installation procedure where installation source is selected, I can choose between tape, BTLD CD-ROM and SCSI CD-ROM.
But what do I choose for IDE CD-ROM??
Pleas help!!
I am running SCO ODT 3.2 v4.2 on a PC configured with an e3E adapter.
Sometimes I use the PC for service out in the field. At those occasions I connect to another system using SLIP. In the field, no network is available.
If I boot with network cable connected everything works OK, both e3E...
I am running OpenServer 5.05.
When I execute command:
/etc/slattach +c +v -m 552 /dev/tty1a (source IP) (dest IP) 9600 &
I get an error message saying:
slattach: dev/mbcl: no such file or directory
Why??
I would like to do this:
1. Prepare a text file (size about 1-2 K)
2. Send this file thru a COM-port to an external modem. Note that I need to send the file at low speed (50/75/100/150/200 baud)
3. Preferably I would like to have the possibility to either send the text file once or loop it forever.
cu is very "rough". I am looking for a more graphical, easy-to-use version.
I would like to use the terminal program for sending a textfile (or preferably resending a textfile forever).
I temporarily borrowed another desktop PC(other brand) and installed OSR5.05 on that. Bingo! Everything worked fine, INCLUDING KEYBOARD MOUSE!!
I noticed a major difference, however. Running "hwconfig" on the new machine there was a line saying:
"kbmouse 0x60-0x64 12 type...
The most important thing with my efforts is to free my only COM-port (COM1). I need it for other purposes.
As the first choice, I would like to use the built-in trackball mouse. Second alternative is to use external mouse connected to the round PS/2-jack.
I found a DOS 6.22 boot diskette and...
Thanks for your tips!
Yes, I completely removed the serial mouse before I tried to install the keyboard mouse.
The computer I am using is a laptop that has a built-in "trackball-type" mouse. This "trackball-mouse" is enabled in BIOS.
I will try to find a DOS boot diskette...
Thanx for quick reply. I have done as you recommend, but when scologin tries to start I get error message "fatal server error e t c e t c"
I have also enabled the trackball in BIOS.
Anything else I can do??
Have just installed OSR 5.05m on a Dell Latitude XPi CD with Pentium 150 processor. Everything works fine except keyboard mouse.
If I configure tty1a for a Microsoft serial mouse it works fine, but I do not want to occupy my only COM-port.
How do I configure the keyboard mouse? What tty does...
Thanks for replying. Check following links and you will find what QFS165 is used for:

Thanks,
I do not have the file "ttydef". I am using Open Desktop 3.2 v 4.2. Maybe "/etc/gettydefs" is the file I should examine?
Any idea which parameter affects DTR??
I establish a SLIP connection by running "slattach" (slattach +c +v +mtu 552 /dev/tty1a rmt1 site1 9600 &).
When session is over, process is stopped by using "kill".
Process is stopped but sometimes DTR on tty1a stays on. The only way I have found to drop DTR is to run:
