p5wizard,
Verfied both lpars were on 64bit.
bootinfo -K on both lpars also show 64.
Have already attempted to reinstall SDD on the problem LPAR but no joy! =(
any other ideas?
I've restored a mksysb from lpar B to lpar A by using NIM and I get the following error. AIX 5.3 ML2, sddpcm 2.1.0.1, devices.fcp.disk.ibm.mpio.rte 1.0
Has anyone seen this before?

Hi CHT,
I was after the same thing after a secuity audit suggested we add banners. The following is courtesy of the "AIX Hints and Tips" at www.rootvg.net:
Q: Anonymous ftp - how to change the standard welcome message?
A: you can use dspcat /usr/lib/nls/msg/$LANG/ftpd.cat to unroll...
Hi all,
Just a quickie abt errpt permissions. I'm not sure if root/system users have a differnet, priveleged view of the errpt.
I noticed:
-r-sr-sr-x /usr/bin/errpt
-rw-r--r-- /var/adm/ras/errlog
Do normal users get a different view of errpt's?
tia.. :-)

Hi guys (+ gals),
this one is giving me a headache..
I have a two node cluster:
Node A
en0 service - 10.0.1.11
en1 standby - 10.0.2.11
Node B
en0 service - 10.0.1.12
en1 standby - 10.0.2.12
both en0's are on one switch (ie., 1.11, 1,12)
both en1's are on another switch (ie., 2.11, 2.12)...
shaixpeare,
thanks for the tip.. everything is on rootvg.. ^_^
i found that it for some reason inittab failed to run /etc/rc.sna which sets up and loads a few things that solves the problem.
thanks,
Wing
Hi all,
I'm stumped on this one.
I've restored a system onto another machine for a DR rehersal from a mksysb tape.
snaadmin now fails to run and spits this ugly error:
exec(): 0509-036 Cannot load program snaadmin because of the following errors:
0509-130 Symbol resolution failed for...
axelsche,
YOU LEGEND! everything, MACs, node names, cluster names, IPs and all were unique.. except the cluster ID number. We used scripts and a config file to create the cluster and it seems we overlooked that parameter that was left to default as "0" in our config file on both our...
Hi all,
Thanks for the pointers..
DSMARWAY,
Yes, the two clusters do all have unique boot, service and standby IPs.
I don't seem to get any msgs in hacmp.out , & cluster.log
when I ran a synchronise of resource group ( emulate)
and it showed no errors.
Yes, two resource groups configured...
Hi all,
I read somewhere that hacmp shuts down a node to prevent data corruption when it detects a change in IP address in a cluster. I've been having problems where my nodes shutdown by themselves and errpt shows that clexit.rc has been called. The reason why I ask how HACMP detects change is...
Hi all,
My limited understanding is that HACMP requires rsh in some way.
Does HACMP require both the login and shell services?
login 513/tcp
shell 514/tcp
Or does it only require the "shell" service to allow commands such as "rsh hostname cmd"?
Also is...
Hi all! :-)
i'm trying to install ML10 on a machine that already has ML09. It attempts to install the package with installp first after a bosboot, but it gets stuck with this error.
any ideas?
Below is the error message:

Paul,
/etc/rc.tcpip portmapper and inetd will be left intact as suggested. :-)
I also suggest the following link for people who want to know a little about the services in AIX

Thanks for all your assistance,

Paul,
It's been a while... and this task has been on the backburner.
I hope to only leave godm, and login in /etc/inetd.conf and removing the rest.
We maybe considering to leave telnet and ftp until we have ssh up and running.
Am I right that HACMP uses godm? and it uses "login" for...
Sorry people.. I think I should clarify.
The install of the bind 9.2 package for AIX does "work". However, the problem is that "lssrc -s named" returns that "named" is inoperative even though ps -ef shows that "named" is running" and answers queries...
I want to install the latest bind for my AIX box.
I managed to download and install BIND 9.2.0.0 on AIX from
http://ftp.univie.ac.at/aix/aix432/bind-9.2.0.0.exe
Everything seems fine, but "lssrc -s named" says it is not operating even when a ps -ef |grep named shows that it is...
