    Have you loaded the post-wait kenel extentions? in your /etc/inittab orapw:2:wait:/etc/loadext -l /etc/pw-syscall make sure you are loading the correct version of the post-wait drive. Oracle 8.1.7.4 uses version 3. /etc/loadext -v /etc/pw-syscall
