I have a computer with Win98.
I have a LexMark Optra T612 printer, connected to my network via a RJ-45 cable. The printer has a IP address, and users connect to it via the LexMark Network features.
For some reason, the user said the printer wasn't printing correctly, so I decided to uninstall...
I'm wondering if someone knows of a program that would allow you to search for a key word through all the files of a project (like the Search command you get with CTRL+F in a Form, but that would search all the form from the project)?
I have a directory on my server. The permissions on this directory are as follow:
Administrators Group = Total Control
desden (user whose directory this is) = Total Control
Everyone = Write only (W)
The goal is to use this directory so that people (students in particular) can give files to...
grygst: There are 2 ramdrive.sys files on the computer, one in c:\windows and one in c:\windows\command\ebd. I got it using the dir ramdrive.sys /s command.
Mac: You seem to know a lot of stuff, but I think I'm gonna need more specific informations about all that.
First, I can remove the...
The PC has Windows 98 and 64Mo of RAM.
I added the following line as the second line of my config.sys file:
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\RAMDRIVE.SYS 61440 /E
When it executed, I got a message stating there was an Invalid Parameter for the ramdrive.sys command.
What did I do wrong? I can't put a value...
Space: I know, but the whole point of me asking for help in here was to have another solution than just reinstalling the whole system.
Anyway, I'm still waiting for specifications from MACorMACK before going on with the reinstall.
Mac: Here's my config.sys file. Where must I do changes?
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS /TESTMEM:ON
DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\DISPLAY.SYS CON=(EGA,,1)
COUNTRY=002,850,C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\COUNTRY.SYS
device=C:\WINDOWS\cwdinit.exe /A
DEVICE=C:\CDPRO\VIDE-CDD.SYS /D:MSCD001

I checked, and the HD space was 3523Mo. Here are the values I tried (min-max):
128-128 ---> No result.
1024-1024 ---> No result.
3523-3523 ---> No result.
After that, something really weird happened. I went again in safemode in the Control Pannel, and he had reseted everything. It was once...
I did it, and it didn't work.
When you say to play with those settings, what kind of changes must I do?
Set the maximum to a higher value?
By default, it was to something like 3455, or about that... well, I think it was the quantity of available disk space on the hard drive.
Well, I spoke too soon...
It worked... but just once.
When I rebooted, I again got the same error message.
I guess if I do it again, the cycle will begin anew. So, it can boot in safe mode, and after that, boot once normally. But the second time after that, the whole cycle of problems start...
Wow! Why is it always the simplest thing that work best?
The system booted correctly in Safe Mode. After that, I rebooted, and it went smoothly as if nothing had ever been wrong with this computer.
I'll try to reset my config.sys and autoexec.bat to what they originaly were, just to be sure...
OK. Here's what I did. I booted and went in Step by Step. Here are the lines of code he executed, with my answers to the questions between (). Y means I accepted and let the system execute the line. N means I cancelled that line.
Traiter le registre système? (Y)
* This means: Treating(???) the...
I booted in step by step. It gave me the same result (Insufficient extended memory). The last line runned before I got the message was the following:
Charger tous les pilotes Windows?
It could be translated to about:
Load all the Windows drivers?
I answered yes to every question of the step...
Well, I don't think we can afford UPS for every workstation, but the server got one. The problem is that my application is used by another institution, and they don't have anybody on site, so I can't know if their server crashed during the last week or so (I think that the problem causing the...
By table update, do you imply only the modification of the structure of the table (like adding a field or an index), or even the simple modifications of the data contained in the tables?
Thanx for the link, it was quite instructive.
DSUmm: I never use the APPEND BLANK. Only the INSERT INTO command.
Anyway, from what I see, I guess I'll have to mostly check the server.
