i would recommend setting Windows 2000 root to the most reliable machine you have. Not necesarrily the oldest.
the windows 2000 machine that is not currently on the network would be a great choice and if you are set on upgrading then wipe that machine load NT4 on it promote it then take your...
I just amazes me to how when you do an upgrade on a product that you actually lose features the old version had. I understand that 4.53 used MAPI and it had its flaws as well. Just kinda counter productive to me that this feature was not better thought out. Thanks

another quick way is to boot to W2K cd and get to the point where it ask you about the partitions and delete them there that will clear them out no matter what the OS was on them. Even linux distros Thanks

you could use a 98 boot disk and boot to DOS then FDISK the partitions and start over but keep in mind that all data will be lost. Thanks

you can reimport basicws.inf and it will give you the default settings and lower security standards back Thanks

this really In my opinion does not simulate a virus catastophy. Fdisk your drives and that will do it :)
no seriously though
just make a batch file to net send
net send \\workstation [message}
loop it in a batch file or you could even schedule it as a scheduled task or an AT command...
very good point that is why i suggested removing all other hardware. I did forget to mention trying different ram. Good catch.

other than resetting up the queues on the other NT4 server and having the users change there printers there is not much of a way to make it transparent.
You could rename the temp server to the name of the production print server but this is not usually a good idea unless it is a permanent...
password policy is usually set in the Default Domain policy. I would check there first and also
what was the policy that you imported that might help to establish where the problem lies Thanks

i would check the BIOS and get default values. This sometimes cleans up misc. errors. Also in the BIOS make sure plug and play OS is set to yes.
I would try loading the machine with bare minimum hardware if these two things fail. (i.e. Remove soundcard and nic.)
Then if this still fails try...
on the subnet properties specify specific election and point it to a machine that will always be on (ie a Server) and then that machine will gather the information and submit it to the admin server Thanks

I was wondering if there was a way to have Etrust email admins when a virus was caught in Email either incoming or outgoing. With 4.53 this was not a problem but i have not seen an option with 6.0
Any help would be appreciated Thanks

I would try to update the Realtime driver from CA's website. Also you might try turning off background scanning as well. What this does is scan the whole store and all atachments when a new virus sig is updated severely inhibiting the servers performance. Also there is a SP1 for Etrust 6 that...
you can use the CD as many times as need if you have enough licenses. This is the key with the purchase of the Application it is only good for one computer. Thanks

Something i always do on a dual boot system is load each OS on separate physical disk. This way if one crashes you can still use the other.
Then when you want to boot to the other OS just change the boot order in the BIOS and everything will work great.
This way each harddrive has its own...
