igmp configured - but multicast flooding

I've had a working IGMP config in place for some time but multicast now seems to be flooding out every switchport (switches are all L3 cisco 4948E). on each switch the config was: ip igmp snooping querier address 192.168.0.1 and on the querier switch: ip igmp snooping querier ip igmp snooping...

    Cisco WS-X2948G-GE-TX multicast igmp enable

Damn. Looked at the wrong model number yesterday on that page. That's a real annoyance as our 3750 doesn't support cgmp Cheers Cammy

    Cisco WS-X2948G-GE-TX multicast igmp enable

Hi I'm trying to setup igmp snooping on our catos switches (WS-X2948G-GE-TX running software 8.4(11)), but the command set igmp enable is simply not available. Everything I read suggests that igmp snooping should be supported. I can set cgmp enable. 2948.185 (enable) set igmp ? filter...

    vlan mismatch

Thanks for the replies. I need both vlans allowed down the trunk. The switches I have don't support vlan retagging. We're now planning on removing office network devices from the test side of the network ( and routing it instead ) Cammy

    vlan mismatch

Hi We have a vlan mismatch between our main office and test networks. The native vlan in the office is vlan1. In the test network their main subnet is vlan1, and the office subnet is vlan3. I'm trying to link the two networks together and avoid broadcast traffic from the test network. I...

    strange DNS cache entries

Cancel my previous post Located in C:\Users\cammy\AppData\Roaming\Geje\yfnyu.exe Behaviour seems to involve the program looking up a huge list of internet sites resulting in pollution in the DNS cache - as shown previously. There is also another suspicious looking exe in my appdata folder...

    strange DNS cache entries

Possibly caused by a hidden iexplore.exe process running in the background after I was "testing" a malicious link in a spoofed email yesterday. After killing the ie process and restarting ie, I've not been able to recreate. Cammy

    strange DNS cache entries

Hi While looking for a solution to another DNS issue, I discovered a load of worrying looking entries in my windows dns cache. There were hundreds of these nonsense entries: Windows IP Configuration mzzdtglfljscaqwsljzkvtcdqmzuc.org ---------------------------------------- Name...

    ws-c3550-24 support subinterfaces

Hi I'm not sure what the subinterfaces would be used for on the 3750. They won't accept the ip address command, so as you say, not routed interfaces.

    ws-c3550-24 support subinterfaces

Possibly supports subinterfaces but not vlan subinterfaces? Cisco C2948G

Hi We have about 8 of these switches at work and I'm having problems with the length of time it takes end user devices to join the network. I've tried enabling portfast on specific ports and this does increase the time a bit, but I've still got to wait 30-60 seconds at the logon screen for the...

    ws-c3550-24 support subinterfaces

So what is the difference between the ports on layer 3 switches that you can create subinterfaces on some and not others? ie c3550-24-emi & WS-C3750G-24T Thanks Cammy

    ws-c3550-24 support subinterfaces

Thanks If the thread wasn't closed I'd mark it as inappropriate. :-) I've wasted time trying to get it working that way.

    ws-c3550-24 support subinterfaces

Hi Does anyone have a definitive answer on whether the C3550-24 running the EMI image can support subinterfaces in the form int fa0/1.1 ? I can't get it working but this chap seems to have: http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1559316 Thanks Cammy

    unmanaged fibre

Thanks for your replies If we bought a second router it would serve a separate purpose and both routers would be a single point of failure unless we also invested in backup units. The modules do look quite pricey admittedly. The 1921 is not an old box for us. It has two gb ethernet ports and...

    unmanaged fibre

Hi We've just had an additional fibre connection installed at work which comes into a media convertor > ethernet. We hadn't considered the implications of an unmanaged service other than the ISP nor providing a router. It transpires that we have to configure their WAN subnet to our public IP...

thread35-1630770 Hi Referencing the old thread above, would a ISR work or must it be an ASA? Thanks Cammy

Multiple site to site vpn routing

I had tried this but it doesn't seem to work for vpn clients. Our US pix has a tunnel to the UK but vpn clients connecting to the US, can't see the UK network even though a route print on a US client connected machine shows a route to the UK network. Thanks Cammy
