what are my options?
The microsoft Knowledgebase Article Q267550 say's you can get this error message if you don't have Client For Microsoft networks installed. Another possibility is that you have the wrong version of Dbmssocn.dll.- PavoneRich

optimise query
I think if you make the first query a view and then make the second query a join with the view it will eliminate the error.- PavoneRich

Intermittent BULK INSERT error
If this is on a multi processor server. My guess is that the bulk insert is being processed in paralell. More than one thread working on the same task.<br><br>Try doing a bulk copy instead and see if that eliminates the problem.- PavoneRich
