Hi,
Are Cisco Gigabit Ethernet ports all the same wavelength?
That is should every gigabit ethernet optical connection work with every other gigabit ethernet connection?
cheers,
Andrew
Hi,
I've cleared the syslog buffer, and when I look at the most recent messages they have a tag of '1w4d'. I would have expected a time-stamp.
Here are the commands....
#clear logging
(config-if)#shutdown
#show logging
1w4d: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Ethernet5/0, changed state to...
Hi,
Is it possible in IOS to bring an ATM PVC administratively down independently of the sub-interface. Say on IOS version 12.0 and beyond?
cheers,

Yes, indeed. I think I understand now. It is just going to be a next hop, and the subnet is redundant as there is nothing else on the subnet. Routing updates will not be affected,

Hi,
In what way would this break the routing across a serial link? The router would send the packets to the next-hop address whatever that may be, from where it would be routed again.
You mean if the traffic's destination was the IP address at the far end? But the router would know the far end...
Hi,
If the far-end interface on a serial link has an IP address which is not on the subnet defined locally does this cause any problems?
cheers,
Andrew
Hi,
I believe the 5000 & 6000 series Catalyst Switches can use CatOS, as well as IOS, and they did solely in the past. What is the benefits of still using CatOS, are there any? i.e. Has IOS support for switching and MLS caught-up/surpaased with that of CatOS?
As an aside doeS anyone have a...
Hi,
Yep it does, so I believe the difference is the RSP's (5000,5500,6000,6500) are large modular routers and the MLS (3550) is a single entity which can perform the same L3 functions,
Many thx,
cheers,
Andrew
Hi,
I've got two ethernet interfaces configured between two routers, but when I ping them I get an encapsulation error?
01:13:03: IP: s=200.200.50.2 (local), d=200.200.50.1 (FastEthernet0), len 100, encapsulation failed.
Router 1....
interface FastEthernet0
ip address 200.200.50.1...
Hi,
Does anyone have any advice on the MPLS exam. I presume there are no Sim questions. Also how does it compare to the Boson exam? As the Boson is pretty easy, I doubt the real one will be quite as easy?
cheers,
Andrew
