This article suggests a solution

but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work!
Otherwise it is not a bad read!

I would like my websites to be accessible by simply addressing domain.com rather than www.domain.com
I am running BIND 9 on Linux. According to my DNS book, I could specify an A record with an '*' for the host name
If I replace my entry of
www.domain.com IN A 123.123.123.123...
I had exactly the same problem. I gave up and relayed my mail via another (Linux) box that I already had set up.
Security on the W2K server Exchange is such that it cant be made to relay mail even from its own host. (unless anyone else knows different!)
I agree with the previous poster.
Hey this system really works! Thank you very much!!!!!
The article clearly states this is a known issue in 8.5
I had a lengthy discussion with Crystal support people who obviously didn't know it was an issue!
However they were able to clue me up on how to define many of the things I want...
I'm using 8.5 , and getting complaints about poor quality charts.
Although when viewing a chart on the screen, the lines/curves/fonts retain quality when increasing magnification, the same does not happen when the report is viewed as a subreport or in a pdf export. Clearly the chart is exported...
With help Crystal Decisions support, the answer is that even the latest version has the problem that it is possible to create a 'corrupt' report, by amending a report using the report expert wizard.
OK you get a warning about loss of data if you do this, but it doesn't say it may crash the...
I cant believe this product could behave this badly!
I've spent days successfully producing reports in these environments, only to find now that anytime I try and enhance or modify them the PC crashes, requiring reboot> scandisk etc.
It seems to happen when the database is accessed, but it...
Ken,
thanks for your thoughts. It's good to know I've not overlooked the blinding obvious!
I've tried to create a stored procedure in SQL, but couldn't see how to make CR refer to it. But now I'll investigate further.
Thanks!
Using MS SQL v6.5 and CR V6
Database table A has field 'UKpostcode'
and database table B has fields 'UKpostcode prefix' and 'region'.
A simple formula can be used to to convert the UKpostcode to a locally defined valid UKpostcode prefix, from which the relevant region (e.g. North , South...
I got it going eventually. What the O'Reilly book doesn't do is show you how to handle all combinations of virtual hosting/ host by ip address/ port based hosting.<br>Since SSL uses a port other than 80 and not one you'd necessarily want to use by default, bascically you need to specify for each...
I use htaccess successfully on several servers to protect various html directories, but recently realised I need to restrict access to certain cgi programs.<br><br>I expected simply placing a copy of my standard .htaccess file in the cgi directory would be a good starting point, since it has...
I've got Apache 1.3 with SSL<br>When I add NameVirtualhosts settings to the config, it <br>wont start.<br><br>"go start" just says it cant start httpsd.<br><br>"httpsd -S" gives the result of parsing the config and <br>seems ok<br><br>"go configtest" says the...
