As my user id indicates, I dabble a lot with Access which is to say I do not sell the various applications I develop. In addition to those I create for my place of employment, I do some things for non-profit organizations. Of course the problem for the non-profits is that they do always have...
We are moving from Access 97 to Access 2002. A lot of reports are designed to be displayed in Preview to allow user to view contents and print if so desired.
In 2002 the Print Preview screen in small and the reports automatically default to Size to fit. Generally, this means that the text is so...
I something similar with an item number. The first time item is assigned it does not receive a letter (I refer to it as suffix). Every re-issue gets an incremental letter. The function I use checks to see what the highest suffix assigned is and then increments it by one.
I don't know if this...
My network folks are not admitting to anything.
I tried a few things and the problem has gotten better (2.5 weeks no problems). However, I can't say which one it was since I was fervorishly making adjustments I didn't follow the rule of only one change at a time.
Here are some of the things I...
Working in a network environment, I have a front-end database that provides the user interface for a back-end database (back-end only contains tables).
When adding a record I use an unbound form to capture all of the users information and then use a save routine to create a blank recordset...
(I have posted this same question in the VBA Coding area)
I have an ongoing problem with a front-end/back-end database arrangement. The front-end contains the user interface while the back-end has the actual tables. Both are run from the same network directory by less than 20 users at a time...

I am facing the same problem and question at this time. Did you ever find a solution which allowed you compile the queries? From what I have read, I think the queries need to be recompiled after every COMPACT. I having some write conflicts resulting in the need to run REPAIR. It happens most...
I have an Access 97 Front End/Backend set up. When the Front end is started NT User ID is logged into a logon table in the backend via the Main Switchboard's ON LOAD EVENT.. The table is Autonumber. When the record is saved the autonumber value is stored in a public variable.
The switchboard...
I am having a similar problem and was searching Tek-Tips for possible answers. I ran across this old post from Helena. I have an application with source code in 1 mdb and the data in another. A User wishign to start the application gets the notification that the database needs to be repaired...
Both Maggieb and stingers recommend importing the objects into a new mdb. I will give that a try. The idea of local versions is a hard - impossible one to sell to my systems support department. I will have them check server logs to see if there are any clues there.
Thanks for the suggestions.
This is a reposting of thread 705-194792. Rickspr had a good idea which I tried but it did not resolve. He suggested I start again - so here it is...

Well, it is back to the drawing board for me. As in the past, right after COMPACTING (and recompiling) the "C" database needed to be repaired 3 times.
More confused than ever - any suggestion gratefully received and attempted!!
I have a rather simple Access 97 for logging and tracking certain type of correspondence. The user interface is contained in one mdb and linked to another mdb with the data tables.
The application is being run on NT server (both mdbs are on the server nothing is on the client's machine).
There...
