Well it is an internally developed app as we are a software company, but I am not a developer. The installation goes fine if you are logged in as a domain admin, but the customer wants less rights required for the installation. I have not yet been made aware of any updates to AD durring the...
What rights are required? A customer wants to set up an account that is not a domain admin for installing software. DomainUser/LocalAdmin does not work. I do not yet know what the installation is attempting to do that is failing.
We turned off our 5.5 server when we thought we were done. There turned out to be a couple of hidden items that we did not move. So, I say turn it off when you think you have everything ready and leave the hardware in place for a couple weeks - just in case. After that remove the connector...
It hangs because explorer is atempting to enumerate all the files. If you let it ride long enough it might be okay.
You could use the command line to move files to another location and work with 30,000 of the files at a time.
I don't know what the max is, i know there is a recommended limit...
You could create a loop arround this guys batch to increment the size, if there is not too much for it to do.

We have a dummy mailbox that we add addresses to when people leave. You can use anything that can be assigned an address, public folders will allow you to do some automatic aging for you.
It just went away... It MIGHT have something to do with upgrading all the domain controllers to correct a performance problem. They were 266mhz machines and now are 450 ~ 600.
Build it as raid 5 and partition as follows (all NTFS if running windows 2000 - if NT4 make E drive 2 gb and FAT)
c:\4gb <- windows and program files
d:\30 gb <-database files
e:\4gb <- log files
Install exchange 5.5 into the site with the other server and apply needed patches. Move the...
sounds like you hit everything except the cabling... move the problem computer to another station and test it there. if it works well - call the wiring folks.
since you are changing chipsets this is destined to fail.
if this is your only domain controller - install a temporary one and move all the services to it. then upgrade your machine and migrate the services (rolls) back to it.
you are going to have to reinstall windows - 90% guaranteed
