Hmmm, the Microsoft way looks pretty difficult to use while developing, but I have worked out a way that works just as well.
On the form, in the After Insert event, add the following code.
Me.AllowAdditions = False
This will allow the one addition to be saved, and stop any other additions...

That usually means you have to reinstall the wizard or add-in as something is missing.
If you want a really customised report, you could probably write your own by going through the hidden system tables. But the documenter does a good job of this already.

Thanks, I think you're right. The MSTR sales guys got mixed up I think. I met him and he seemed a bit out of touch... saying all desktop components are published COM objects and can therefore be fully modified.
I think that means you can access the desktop functions from external programs...

I hope you have found Object manager by now. If not, you have to have installed the Administration products of MicroStrategy, and then it is in the Administration section of the MicroStrategy7 area in the Start Menu.

I am using MicroStrategy 7.1.3 and am wondering if it is possible using the SDK to add a button to the toolbar in the desktop (or some equivalent) which would automatically drill to a certain point and write the results to a database table.
My clients swear they have seen this demonstrated...
