Hi Erin - - Annoying little message, isn't it? But it's a sign of trouble that is undoubtedly affecting other apps and system operations as well.
First things first... OS 9.0.4 is troublesome and should be updated. Your RAM could use a boost from 256, and at current prices it's not a bad idea...
5656, it sounds like you're just trying to negotiate a simple resize/scale here, but you're trying to do it in a Photoshop-kind-of-way. First, check your defaults and make sure that everything (strokes, fills) is set to scale proportionately. Then select all your artwork (with solid pointer)...
p.s. ...and when you return to Quark, double-click using your content tool and click to get edition for the update. Also, consider separate imports of the PS and the AI files. Quark is your compilation software; the other two are for artwork. Consider that you are taking a 300(?) dpi piece of...
The memory Quark is looking for is its own; not system memory. Try quitting and then doubling the suggested memory size allocated to Quark. I can manage files with nearly a gig of images at about 5 to 6 times the suggested memory allocation (on Mac). Quark fusses once in a while, but even the...
Quark is so darn moody. Re-establish the link through "Auxilliary Dictionary..." rather than "Edit...." Gotta find it before you can edit it. That works all the time from what I've seen. If not, you may have to trash your prefs. Yuk.
Quark may need more memory: quit, check it, raise it if necessary. (I use 4x the suggested allocation, but start by doubling and see where that leads.) Quark may be tired: quit, restart, try again. Your image might be corrupt: "save as" with all extraneous info removed (alpha channels...
Your eps files are probably off the charts rather than too low. Read the image data in the generated report. Illustrator's default resolution is 800. If you're annoyed by the message, change the default in Flight Controls to get rid of the alerts.
Onscreen image will look different since your font rendering software no longer recognizes a font. Make sure no default stroke was picked up in the conversion. If you're printing to a postscript printer, keep in mind that you've lost your font printing as well as screen rendering advantages. The...
Is there some simple way to change the Step & Repeat defaults, permanently, that I have overlooked for years? If not, can anyone tell me how to get there with ResEdit? Thanks!
Or you can use the RULES formatting and obtain much greater control over the weight, color and offset of the underline. Why resort to typewriter methods when you have a computer and Quark?
