Thank you for the advice. I should have given the troubleshooting steps I did take. Sorry about that.
I did the system reboot first, after backing up the configuration.
Also cycled the power to the expansion unit itself.
After that I was a bit scared to go further. I'll try those...

I've got a BCM50 module that has the status light blinking red. I suspect this is the cause of several sets at this location not working...
Makes sense. Confirms what I thought. That's why we have modems after all, right? Can't go digital to analog or vice-versa with out some sort of converter in between.
Can you use a digital Centrex desk set on an analog Centrex line at all?

Yes, had a tech in to swap in a ps from a spare BCM400 that we have. I'm not sure of the state of that spare. Wish I had the time to set it up and test it out.
Will the current BCM400 operate without an HDD in it at all? I'm thinking I could pull the HDD after hours and...
The HDD in our BCM400 recently failed, due to a power surge that blew the power supply.
I know, not a good sign for the rest of the BCM, either.
Until mgmt can figure out what they want to do, what functions will the BCM400 still be able to do?
I can't seem to find a clear answer in the manuals...
