Norstar 8x24 requirements for old 1A2 trunk module ...

No, I need details. I know I need the Centrex software which came out around the time 824 DR3 did Curly, not the Centrex+ one which come out later, and an external copper trunk module. No idea how to wire the RJ21 without the mapping. T, R, A, A1 for 4 CO lines. Programming would be simple...

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

Bell made more money selling Norstar for small sites where Centrex EBS would have worked, but they weren't that bright. NT essentially had to tell them what to buy. Since they owned a good chunk of Northern Telecom, they both made more selling Norstar. NT pushed equipment sales to boost its...

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

Bad guess -- sorry. That feature button was a pain in the .... I came from SL-1, and when I saw Norstar, we went from a context-sensitive M3000 to codes nobody could remember? Then the feature button became a satellite dish. I'm like, OK, this is a dance remix of SL-1 because Vantage didn't...

I did. Can't find the wiring layout anywhere.

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

Why would Bell use Norstar when DMS did Centrex ISDN EKTS? Were they out of range? I always said Bell was, is, and forever will be, DUMB.

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

Feel free Joe. I don't think the 7900 made it out of Carling. It was context sensitive, just like the M3000, which sold for $695 in 1985. The lawyers loved them. I remember them at Bell all over the place. There was a infrared gadget to backup your personal directory on the 3000.

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

The Norstar M7900s? -- these didn't work on SL-1 or M-1, only Norstar, and not the first release. When I was at Bell, yeah, I saw a lot of M3000s, mostly busted.

Norstar 8x24 requirements for old 1A2 trunk module ...

Does anyone have the documentation and compatibility matrix for this? Which version of Modular 8x24 did it work with? Centrex module required? Disconnect Supervision (OSI)? Wiring diagram for A lead control? Can't find anything online, but we have a 1A2 (NE-QUJ8A) with 4 loop start analog...

    Norstar 7900 Touchphone -- not Meridian SL-1 M3000

Has anyone ever seen a Norstar M7900 (pictured on the left) out in the field? Not to be confused with the SL-1 Meridian M3000 Touchphone from December, 1985 on the right. I don't recall any of these making it out of BNR.

BCM50 R5 -- Can a VOIP trunk code really do both?

Conflicting information everywhere. Does a single activated VOIP auth. trunk code on a BCM50E R5 also allow SIP trunking to a telco provider or something like Call Centric?

    UCx-20 vs. BCM50E R5

How do these two systems compare? Nortel IP phone support ... BCM50s don't appear to support Nortel 1150s or 1165s, but UCx does? I saw a video of an 1150 on UCx as a standard non-ACD set. Analog trunks ... does UCx support direct inward dialing to IP stations from analog trunks? Say, one...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

It depends on the lowest common denominator. Avaya's SIP 4.4 firmware for the 1165E probably provides the same kind of features on its IP Office ver x that a Unistim 5.5 on a CS1K Rel x or BCM50 Rel x would. I haven't really looked at the two in detail though. I heard that the higher versions...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

telcodog ... that's very kind of you, but the M3000 phone will hang during the initialization/identification phase when it boots up. I thought the UCx guys were ex-BNR guys who had the specs or the old Protel code for X11 R7 and the M3000 4.x/5.x firmware. This stuff is 30 years old...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

telcodog ... the 1535s are SIP -- those will work on any non-proprietary IP-PBX. UCx is an Asterisk-based IP softswitch running on general purpose hardware that interfaces with legacy equipment via a gateway. A 1985 M-1 was mostly a specialized TDM-TCM hardswitch. The software logic isn't the...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

That's just the interface the PBX administrator sees. Citel somehow managed to do it -- they can even take Meridian Digital Centrex sets if you're a Centrex shop and want to move to a hosted VOIP PBX somewhere in the clouds ... :-) So, they have 3 Nortel 12 or 24 port appliances for Meridian...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

Hi UCXNortel, thanks for your response, but the question I asked was ... Can I get the Meridian-1 M3000 Touchphones to work on 100% UCx hardware/software to call each other, and to make and receive calls to/from analog PSTN lines ... meaning, a la BCM50x. I guess the answer is NO, because it...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

telcodog ... if I had all that, I wouldn't need e-Metrotel. The M3000 would work on the Option 11 mini. What I don't remember is if that package (89 - TSET) required a keycode to enable it. If somebody has access to an X11 or CS1K, what do you get when you type this ... ? > LD 22 REQ: PRT...

    A UCx solution that supports Nortel 1165E, i2007, i2004 Phase 0, 1535 SIP, and M3000 Touchphone

When I worked at Nortel and Bell Canada a while back, I managed to collect/purchase some of their "one of" phones. Most were analog, but a few were digital. I know a UCx20 can handle Unistim IP sets like the 1165E, i2007, i2004 (Phase 0 BNR purple), and the 1535 video SIP phones Nortel issued...
