Hi, I'm trying to covert some Cisco multicast config to HP Commware 7. Does anyone know of a tool that can do this or if I copy the configs could anyone help me? Thanks, Matt.

    Dual default routes?

Hi, I'm after a bit of help. My corporate internet connection has 2 separate /27 bit subnets, unfortunately they aren't contiguous. As part of the redesign I want both subnets to be available to route out to the internet, might as well as we are paying for them! The way i'm told I can achieve...

    Excessive OSPF re-transmissions

Hi, I'm seeing a large number of ospf transmissions on my network. Can someone explain why I might be seeing these? They are happening constantly between sites, it doesn't seem to result in loss of traffic but users are complaining of slow responses. Could these retransmissions be causing issue...

    OSPF DR re-election

Hi, I have a question in regards to the re-election of an OSPF DR router on a L2 network. Can I change the ospf priorities on any router without causing network issues? i.e. could I make the priority of the current DR higher than its value of 80 and make one of the core routers say 100 and the...

    Checkpoint 2200 subnet overlap problem

Hi, I'm after some help if possible? I'm trying to configure 2 interface on a Checkpoint 2200 firewall, one in network 10.1.0.0/16 and the other in 10.1.160.0/27. However, it won't let me as it says the subnets are overlapping. The routing on the network shouldn't be a problem as I believe...

    Overlapping subnet question

Hi, I'm after a bit of clarification if possible. Can I route to both 10.1.0.0/16 & 10.1.160.0/27 networks that exist behind a single 3750 at a remote site? Network 10.1.0.0/16 is in OSPF area 0, but 10.1.160.0/27 will be a static route injected via OSPF (sat behind a checkpoint firewall). I...

Cisco 3750 connected to a NETGEAR ProSAFE GS748T

Hi, I'm after a bit of help. I'm trying to connect a Cisco 3750 to a NETGEAR ProSAFE GS748T. Both switch ports are in the default VLAN (1), and from the Cisco I can see the Netgear at layer 2 (it sees it as an LLDP neighbor), but it won't pass traffic. Has anyone ever had an issue like this...

    Routing question

I've found another subnet that I might have an issue with: 10.62.0.0 255.255.254.0 is a new subnet 10.62.0.0 255.255.0.0 is an existing subnet The gateway address at the existing subnet is 10.62.0.254, won't that conflict with the new subnet ? Matt.

    Routing question

Thanks for the reply. Can the 2 subnets below be routed via different gateways ? The top one is a new, external network accessed via a firewall and the bottom one is an existing internal subnet. 10.1.1.0 255.255.255.248 10.1.0.0 255.255.0.0 Thanks, Matt.

    Routing question

Hi Mike, Thanks for the quick response. It is actually going to be configured statically on a HP 'A' series L3 switch and redistributed into OSPF to the WAN but I guess the principal is the same. Thanks, Matt.

    Routing question

Hi, I have a routing question and hope someone can help me. I need to implement routes to a new network, for the purpose of this post 10.1.45.33/29. I already have existing routes to a 10.1.0.0 network on a /16 mask. My question is can I add the route the 10.1.45.33/29 via the intended...

    Cisco duplex settings

Hi, I want to connect a Cisco 2950 to a 3750 via fibre. The 2950 has a GBIC module installed and I want to connect the other end to a 10/100 Mbps port on the Cisco 3750 via a SFP 10/100/1000 fibre transceiver. Will this work ? I'm sure I have hit issues with this not working in the past but I...
