Thanks mikrom. I ended up following exactly that route -- got ActiveTcl (8.6 current rev) and put my toolkit together on that base. Everything has gone quite well -- tdbc easy to use, well documented. I'm now at a more obscure and less important impasse with an extension called "snack" --...- RootlessAgrarian
