okay, i think i might off messed up everything then.
Im going to start again with a fresh install of server and XP.
Do you have a best practice for what order to install DNS,DHCP, AD etc.
the more i mess around the more i get confused :-)
i have added the PC to the domain. then i created a user and computer in AD.
I am now logged into the XP machine via admin but i cant see any DNS settings set no prefered or alternative :-(
okay , i have added the pc to the group and i am getting an DNS suffix, ip add, sub mask and default gateway but i am unable to add the DNS setting.
I am completely lost and have no idea how to resolve the issue.
I am getting the following info on the dns event viewer:
Event ID:4011

Im currently stuck on linking a fresh install of windows server 2008 (32bit) to an XP machine. I have created a DNS, DHCP and created the computer and user in AD DS.
but i cant seem to link the two together. any help would be appreciated.
