Okay - I have solved the problem(s) - with the help of "you" - indeed I am grateful.
Hopefully this will be of use to others who may have a "operating system not found" error with Win 2008 Server (and possibly/probably Vista, Windows 7, ...)

First - thank you for your suggestion(s). I thought (incorrectly) that I had pursued that avenue in trying to solve the 1801 problem. In fact when I disabled the LAN ports in the advanced/boot menu, the 1801 problem ceased. Hurrah! (I owe you a coffee)
